One of the projects I am currently (and slowly) working on is a historical Japanese horror comic with my husband. He's doing the art, I'm doing the script, and we're hammering out the plot together. I'm not going to go into many details until we're closer to completion, but it's set in Japan at the beginning of the Edo period.
We've been doing a lot of research at home, but in a week, we're setting off for a two-week trip to Japan. We'll be seeing some historical/folk villages, walking a bit of the historical Sendo road and going to a lot of museums. We're also bringing our son, who's eight months old, so that'll be an adventure in itself.
The goal of this trip is to gather inspiration and also photos. Lots and lots of photos for reference. I haven't been to Japan since 2004, so I am really looking forward to this. Our focuses are going to be historical architecture and objects, and people. Hopefully, they won't think we're total creepers, but we need facial structures for background characters, etc.
Being that I'm going to be away from my computer for two weeks, there probably won't be many updates, though I'm trying to get a few ready for automatic posting. I'll also be trying to get to the bottom of the stack of books I'm reviewing, and what better time than when you're on a fourteen-hour flight?
